Welcome to the St. Andrew's UMC UMYF webpage. For those not familiar with the abbreviations, that would be the St. Andrew's United Methodist Church United Methodist Youth Fellowship webpage (say that fast three times!).
So first the obvious...we don't have a fancy name for our youth group. But before you write us off there, let me tell you what we do have. We have open, loving arms, inviting any youth in grades 6-12 who would like to join us. Though we aren't large in number, we do boast some of the most wonderful teenagers in the greater Annapolis area. Some suggest I am biased in saying that. I say you should come and see for yourself!
As a brief introduction, my name is Kevin and I serve as a guide to the youth. I say guide because I am not a Pastor. I am not an expert on religion. I wasn't hired for this role; I volunteered. Though I don't bring that official training, I bring my own experiences. More importantly, I bring a burning desire to make sure each of the youth that pass through the doors of St. Andrew's knows how much God loves them and cares about them, and how much their church family loves and cares about them. Call me a "youth advocate" maybe! I have been leading the youth group for almost 3 years now and I have loved getting to know all of the youth. We make it a family affair too - my wife, Stephanie, also serves as a guide. And my two kids, Carter and Natalie, are honorary youth group members! I strongly encourage anyone interested in joining us in the journey to come along.
I will try to keep this site updated with upcoming dates of meetings or activities. Throughout the year, our plans may change based on things we want to do - we just go with the flow. Hey, maybe that could be our cool group name - The Flow....no, not the Flowbee....just The Flow....nah, that doesn't work. But Flowbee sounds intriquing. Maybe I will run that one by Pastor Dave.
With love,
Kevin
